Turkish bank to open branch in Erbil Saturday, August 21st 2010 4:07 PM Ankara, Aug. 21 (AKnews) – One of Turkey’s renowned banks, VakifBank, is acquiring permission for opening a branch in Kurdistan Region’s capital, Erbil. General Manager of Vakifbank, Suleyman Kalkan, told a Turkish newspaper Sabah Daily that: “the staff is prepared and the branch will be functioning before 2011.” The application is waiting for the approval of the government. Some staff members will be brought from Turkey and the rest will be hired local employees from Erbil. An official from Isbank, considered as one of Turkey’s top banks, said approval has been obtained to open branches in Baghdad and Erbil. Dk/Sm/AKnews
